Last week, Vyro was featured on Jovem Pan’s morning news (JP News) with a report crucial for the future of biomedicine and the treatment of malignant tumors.
The program praised our scientists from the University of São Paulo (USP), pivotal figures in this process. Currently in the approval phase by Anvisa, it’s expected that human trials will commence from mid-year, marking a significant advancement in brain cancer treatment. Based on the Zika Virus, the research has shown efficacy in combating brain tumors, especially glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive cancer. By modifying the virus in the lab, we observed its ability to eliminate cancerous cells while preserving healthy ones and avoiding any form of microcephaly, which represents a major achievement.
Dr. Carolini Kaid, the study’s lead, sees this discovery as a gift to Brazil, maintaining the country as a reference in medicine and increasing responsibility in the development of innovative treatments.
